Eco-Friendly Diapers Thanks to bambamboos

bambamboos disposable diaper canada

So when I first found out I was expecting I decided I wanted to do cloth diapers. Not only were they cost effective, good for both the baby and the environment but the cuteness factor was huge too. I invested in my stash of bamboo charcoal pocket diapers and awaited the arrival of the newest edition to our blended family. Now we found Eco-Friendly Diapers.

It’s been quite some time since I have had a newborn in the house as my older daughter is about to turn 21…yes, I took some time off from “mom-ing”. Fast forward a few months and the princess arrived happy and healthy (a few weeks early but hey such is life). Once home from the hospital, I had planned to use disposables for the first bit while I recovered because let’s be honest who wants to do laundry when you’re recovering from pushing out a whole human from your tender pieces lol.

I had a couple of brands of diapers that were gifted to us at our baby shower that worked perfectly for this! Then one day Aneta messaged me and said she had a diaper that she was looking for a review for and would be interested in checking it out. Of course, I would because who doesn’t like to try new stuff and see if there is something better for the baby!

A few week later I came home to find a package from bambamboo on my doorstep. I have to admit that having a diaper fairy drop them off is kinda amazing and very convenient. I opened them up as you can see in the unboxing video and was pleasantly surprised.

They were soft and seemed to have all the same features that most “mainstream” diapers had, but as any mom knows the proof is in the performance. So that night I popped her into one and hoped for the best lol. Low and behold at her 3 am feeding I only had to change her and not all the bed sheets too.

The diaper itself as I said has most of the same features as the mainstream brands do … ruffles at the legs for poop-plosions plus the double gusset, Velcro type tabs that hold really well, a soft outer cover as well as an extended back piece almost like a flat ruffle that I found worked best when I didn’t tuck it in. There are some thigs that this diaper doesn’t have, and the main thing that they claim is that they are toxin free which for me is a big thing because I try not to expose her to too many chemicals.

The fact that they are biodegradable is a huge plus that the majority of mainstream products are unable to claim. In a world that we are trying to leave less of a footprint that is something to look for. They are non-scented which is nice too although you can now smell your little one more than I find with some of the brands that have a scent. They also don’t have the blue wetness indicator either,  this for me isn’t a big issue as I am crazy and forever checking her to see if she needs a fresh bum.

I found that the diaper was a little stiff but not to the point that it seemed uncomfortable or affected performance, and once on it seemed to soften up with movement, so nothing I worried about.  Overall I was happy with how this diaper held up to what my little one had for it, and she had some days where I was surprised it held up (curry + ebf baby= messy).

The only possible draw back I can see for this brand also happens to be one of the things I like about it; they deliver and are not available in stores yet. Other than that I really enjoyed my time with bambamboo and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a greener disposable product.

For now, we are using cloth inside the house on a daily basis, but the bambamboos are going to be the brand we use when going out. For me it’s a happy compromise between green and convenient.

We use cloth religiously, but when we travel, it is much more convenient to use a couple disposables, This would make it a little more justifiable to use a disposable – at least I know the components are a bit easier on the planet.
