Jiffy: Connecting You To 22 Different Services

Jiffy

JiffySo come New Years last year I came up with 5 words to follow, the one that I have struggled with the most is decluttering. I keep everything thinking I will either need it down the road, I will fix it, or it is sentimental to me. My house has become overthrown with clutter but my backyard and sheds were where I dumped everything that should have been thrown out.

With my procrastination I kept putting it off but the weather is about to turn cold so we needed to clean up our act (literally). The patio furniture, kids toys, and our 9 bikes (how do we have so many) needed to be stored for the winter but we had NO room. Absolutely none. This week we made room, got rid of junk, and managed to organize our sheds. This week we won at home maintenance.Jiffy

Procrastination at it’s Finest

I will be honest, there would have been no way that I would have done it if I did not have a junk removal service coming to get all of our accumulated trash. It’s easier to hide broken lamps and fans in the shed then have them on the side of the house.

Another thing I absolutely despise doing is sitting down and searching for workers/companies/people to fix an issue we have. Most of the time I get no answer, and if there is an answer I am told that I will get a quote once the service provider is at my house. I have four kids, I don’t have time for that. I also want to know how much I will be billed per hour before I call. Most importantly I want to know that the people I hire have great reviews and are recommended.

Sometimes I need service ASAP like when I tried to install a new thermostat and crossed the wires so both the AC and heat were on together. I like to think I am handy but in all honesty it is better to leave some things to the professionals.

Jiffy

We have recently been introduced to a GTA based app and web platform called Jiffy. Jiffy connects you to 22 (and growing) services  and their providers. You can order in a “jiffy” or you can arrange the service to happen at a future time.jiffy

You select your service, fill our your information and preferred date/time and press submit. Couldn’t be easier. The page where you place the order has the rate per hour, minimum rate and any other pertinent information. I like to know how much I can expect to spend on a service before I even call, that honesty from the beginning makes me feel like I am not being taken advantage of because I am a woman. Also, makes it so my husband doesn’t have to make all the calls so that I don’t get scammed. For us that is the win.Jiffy

You get an email informing you that you requested a job, another when a service provided accepts the job (took 10 minutes between both emails). After a quick call from the service provider my service was booked for a time that was convenient for me.

I like that I received a call when the junk removal service was 20 minutes away. Gave us a few minutes to collect left over stuff and when they arrived they told us exactly how much it would cost. We accepted and within 10 minutes all of our junk was gone and almost instantly I received an email with my invoice. So easy!

My Future With Jiffy

Jiffy is a local GTA business (for now) and for someone like me who doesn’t like to call people to repair things I need to learn to delegate. It took me 4 months to do a 10 minute job on 2 toilets in my house. I have a dishwasher that needs to be repaired, my eaves troughs need to be cleaned before winter comes, and I know my husband will be utilizing the mobile auto detailing. These are all tasks that I don’t want to do or frankly can’t do. I can see myself going to the site and crossing tasks off of my to-do list in the near future and beyond.

Another perk that Jiffy has come up with is the #AskJerry hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can ask your home maintenance questions and get an answer from a skilled professional. So if you have any pertinent questions you can head on over and ask Jerry.Jiffy

How great would Jiffy be say if you have an elderly family member who needs something done such as lawn maintenance or their windows cleaned. You could order from anywhere in the world and send over a helping hand.

It would seem that there’s probably a big opportunity for companies like this and if you need help this is a great way to go.
